Meet Our Team
Dr Graham McKay
Dr Graham McKay is our most Experienced Dentist and owned Smile Artistry, formerly GMK Dental, for over 25 years.
Graham graduated from The University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 1978 with a University Medal.
Graham is very experienced in Cosmetic and Rehabilitative Dental Procedures and has completed over 300 "major" Cosmetic Smile Makeovers involving Porcelain Veneers or Porcelain Crowns.
Graham has lead the Brisbane Dental Field for over three decades by providing advanced procedures. For the past few decades, Graham has provided modern patient-centered care through applying the highest standard of Cosmetic Dental Enhancements available anywhere in the world.
Graham is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, AACD, and regularly travels to AACD conferences.
Dr John Bacalakis
Dr John Bacalakis has strong interests in all facets of dentistry, and this is reflected in his studies in the areas of Cosmetic Dentistry, Implant Dentistry, General Dentistry Bite management and Decay management. Dr John Bacalakis has a passion for creating smile makeovers and has been able to give patients the confidence to smile.
Since graduating in 2003 with honours from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science Degree, Dr Bacalakis has completed a number of graduate courses in the fields of implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry.
Dr John Bacalakis is currently undertaking programs at the Kois Center in Seattle, USA. In 2009 he has completed courses in Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning, Functional Occlusion and Restorative/Periodontal Interface. Dr Bacalakis has previously completed Biomechanics courses 1 and 2 in 2007. John plans on attending further courses at the Kois Center in 2010 to complete studies in the areas of Implants: Fixed retained, Implants: Removable retained and Esthetic Gingival Surgery.
Dr John Bacalakis has completed Level 3 accreditation with The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry. In 2009 Dr Bacalakis attended the Nobel Biocare Implant Scientific Symposium
Dr John Bacalakis has completed Advanced Occlusion Courses with Dr William McHorris, a well known and published Gnathologist. John has also completed Dr Derry Rogers seminars in Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry in 2007.
Dr Paul McKay
Dr Paul McKay has interests in Cosmetic Dentistry, Dental Implant Dentistry and General Comprehensive Dental Care, in particular helping to plan and restore smiles.
Dr Paul McKay is a member of The Australian Dental Association ADA, Australian Society of Implant Dentistry ASID, International Congress of Oral Implantologists ICOI, American Academy of Implant Dentistry AAID, and American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry AACD.
Paul completed seminars in Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry by Dr Derry Rogers in May 2007. He has also completed courses with Dr John Kois at The Kois Centre Seattle in Implants Removable, Implants Fixed, Perio-Restorative Interface, Aesthetic Gingival Surgery, Functional Occlusion1: Science Driven Management, Treatment Planning.
Dr McKay is an Accredited to provide Anterior Aesthetic Alignment using Clear InvisalignTM Braces in Brisbane.
Dr Paul McKay has completed Level Three Accreditation with The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry, and the International Team of Implantology ITI Certification Course in the Applicaiton of the Straumann Dental Implant System. In November 2004, he also completed Aesthetics Related Implantology by Joseph Kan.
Dr Paul McKay has completed the Biolok International Surgical and Prosthetic Dental Implant Treatment Clinic, and in October 2004, completed the 3i Implant Treatment Planning Course.
In 2009, Dr Paul McKay attended the ICOI World Congress in Vancouver in September, and the Nobel Biocare Scientific Symposium in Sydney in May. He also attended the ICOI World Congress in Taipei, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Annual Congress in Chicago, in 2007.
Dr McKay is currently undertaking accreditation surgical courses at the Misch International Dental Implant Institute in The United States in late 2009-2010.
Dr Steven Mercurio
Steven graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 with honours. He spent three years working with Queensland Health in the Atherton Tablelands before moving to Cairns and becoming a Senior Dentist at Cairns Family And Cosmetic Dental Group.
Steven joined Smile Artisrty in 2009 when he moved home to Brisbane with his wife and children.
Steven is highly skilled in all facets of Dentistry with vast experience in Emergency Dentistry (including tooth aches), Restorative and Crown and Bridge Dentistry.
